The serious of the “Local Information Meetings” of the Education Infrastructure for Resilience Project executed by the Ministry of National Education Construction and Real Estate Department through the World Bank with the European Union support was conducted in Izmir.
Detailed information was provided to the participants about various topics such as the school qualifications, construction programs, project communication within the environment and social management framework during the meetings which aim to introduce the projects to the target groups at local level.
Mr. Ahmet Ali Barış, Deputy Governor, Mr. Özcan Duman, Head of the Construction and Real Estate Department, Mr. Fatih Mehmet Oruç, Head of the Construction Works, Mr. Ömer Yahşi, Provincial Director of the National Education, mukhtars, school administrations, local authorities and representatives of the Non-Governmental Organizations participated in the meeting.
“Projects Contribute both to the SuTP Process Management And Single-Shift Educational Targets”
Mr. Özcan Duman, Head of the Construction and Real Estate Department who participated in the Local Information Meeting and delivered the opening speech underlined that the project is executed successfully with the increased financial support in new implementation provinces.
Mr. Duman told that approx. 1,1 Million Syrian Under Temporary Protection who are currently considered among the age population have resided in Turkey. He also stated that the implemented projects contribute both to the crisis management and single education objections in terms of the need for the educational facilities.
8 schools will be constructed with an investment in the amount of 88 Million TL in İzmir and an additional capacity with approx. 5.760 student in 192 classrooms will be established. Mr. Özcan Duman told that there is an intensive work on the site and ended his speech that “we move slowly, smoothly and surely within the project. We need to pay a strict attention to implement a project on an important topic such as the Syrian Under Temporary Protection”.
“Our Strong Cooperation With Provinces Gives Way to the Success in the Project”
Mr. Fatih Mehmet Oruç who got the floor during the meeting provided technical information about the schools to be constructed. At first step, 4 schools with 24 classrooms will be constructed and soil survey and site works for these schools have been completed. He also stated these schools are envisaged to become operational in 2019 education year.
Secondly, Mr. Fatih Mehmet Oruç stated that the project preparation works for 4 schools to be constructed are continued and the cooperation between the provincial directorates and the central of the Ministry of National Education is one of the most important factors increasing the project achievements during this process.

Mr. Ömer Yahşi, the Provincial Director of National Education stated that investment on education means an investment on people means an investment on the country and the future of humanity.
It is envisaged to construct 8 school in total including 1 school in each district; Aliağa, Bayraklı, Karşıyaka, Buca; 2 school in each district Torbalı and Bornova under the Projects “Education for All in Times of Crisis and Education Infrastructure for Resilience” which have been commenced by the Ministry of National Education. These schools will be constructed as reinforced concrete structure. Thus, an additional capacity with 5760 students will be established in Izmir. This works and acquisitions constitute a value beyond the figure”. Mr. Yahşi continued his speech that:
“There is a tragic war happening before the whole world in the last few years. We witnessed that millions of people at every age take all kinds of risks to escape from the cruelty. One more time, Turkey embrace these people who have left their country with the hope of finding compassion but lost all their dreams in the sea. Our people know that tears of sufferings are a mirror where they could see themselves and they gave a lesson on humanity”.
Mr. Yahşi emphasized that 8 schools will be operational as a result of the projects executed by the Ministry. He ended his speech that these schools will benefit for the solution of the problems but there are important steps to be taken. Within the scope of the implemented projects Education for All in Times of Crisis I&II and Education Infrastructure for Resilience, 215 educational facilities will be constructed in 19 provinces with 473 Million Euro and it is aimed to provide all kinds of furnishing for these facilities. With the implemented projects, an additional capacity with 153.000 student will be established in 215 educational facilities.
It is envisaged that “Local Information Events” planned within the Communication Strategy will be conducted in Mersin, Kilis, Kayseri, Mardin, Adıyaman, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa and Diyarbakır in addition to 6 provinces in which the Local Information Events have been conducted before.
